Yes this a major design flaw! Its ridiculous these cameras cant be turned off? Tend Secure customer support told me that the recommended method use is to enable motion detection when you go out, and disable motion detection when you return home. And I was told that if I was concerned about live streaming video while I was home to simply turn the camera to face a wall, or put a box over it?! (seriously thats what they told me in an email). Obviously thats NOT an adequate solution (amateur hour).

These cameras should have the ability to be turned on / off via a dedicated switch or via the app. Powering on/off at the powerpoint will apparently damage the camera (again thats according to customer support). So the ONLY suitable use-case for this camera is a scenario where it needs to be on all the time, forever. Which is not how the majority of people would want to use this camera.

Its a major design flaw that I hope they fix because in every other way the Lynx is a good camera. Would like to see a response from the Tend Secure guys to this.

No one seems to read this forum. The best way to get their attention is to leave a review of the product on the main Tend site. They see and reply to those. I have already passed on this feature request in my review. It would be helpful for you to do so as well.
